Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted today’s post to allow me to say how thankful and blessed I am to have such wonderful friends and family! They are truly some of the most amazing people on Earth and I am so lucky to have each of them in my life! I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank my follows and those of you who have supported me in this blog!

I hope all of you have a lovely day and remember to be thankful not only today, but every day!
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Shop Local Black Friday

I must admit, I have always viewed going shopping right after Thanksgiving dinner as barbaric. As a true believer in traditional holidays it has always been my opinion that the holidays are about spending time with  family, not about getting the best deal from the J. Crew outlet!

With this in mind, last year was the first year that I ever went shopping on Black Friday. While you may think that this next statement is slightly hypocritical…I went with my mom and sister and we shopped in our town at locally owned (not corporate) shops. Needless, to say it was one of the best feelings in the world! Having the ability to put money back into the community that I have known and grown up in my entire childhood was an absolute honor. So with Black Friday on our heels, I beg of you to research deals that your local shops are offering and shop there instead of big box stores!

Emily Post’s Proper Thanksgiving Etiquette

The holiday season can warrant awkward family encounters that you have so charmingly avoided the entire year. Everyone handles these situations differently, from the kill them with kindness girl  to the wine lush, who usually ends up speaking her mind at the end of the feast.

My suggestion – when in doubt ask Emily Post! ” She breaks it down in her article “Tips for a Happy Thanksgiving” for guests to hostesses and how to handle those tough situations without having to say “bless your heart” a thousands times over.

The Power of Faith

I must admit that I was not going to post something today, but when I saw this video I knew that I had to share it!! While recording a music video, Carlos Whittaker was approached by a homeless man who knelt beside him, with tears in his eyes, and begin singing with Whittaker. The power of faith reigns in this video as it is so moving and inspiring. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

Getting Cozy With Lilly

Fall has always been my favorite season! Mostly because of the crisp air that doesn’t make you have to layer on the cashmere like the harsh winter months.  I typically avoid purchasing or putting on sweaters as long as I can, but these Lilly Pulitzer sweaters are too cute to pass up!

I recently purchased the Cheetah sweater  and I can’t decided which one I wanted next!! While price point of $148 may not be a little steep, I can tell you that these will last for multiple seasons! Oh and don’t forget to shop local at your local signature store! If you don’t have one or don’t know where one is, browse here to see a listing as many of them have websites!

Happy Shopping!

The Excitement is Building!!

Words CANNOT express how excited I am that this day has arrived! Today marks exactly ONE month until my beau comes home for Christmas!!

I know I have slightly touched on this in a previous post, but I am the proud girlfriend of a United States Solider. My boyfriend is currently stationed in Hawaii {lucky him!} and it will be six months since the last time that we saw each other when he arrives home! I am so blessed that we only have to wait such a small amount of time to see each other, because so many military families go many more months until they see their service men or women.

We are a few weeks shy of our 8 year anniversary…yes we are high school sweethearts! He has stood by my side through some of the biggest, hardest and happiest moments of my life and I could not think of a better person to share those memories with. No,  there aren’t wedding bells in our future {yet!}. Yes, we love each other and we are madly in love, but there is something to be said for finding yourself  and becoming financially stable before you say those “I do’s.” We believe that we are bettering ourselves for each other to be a stronger couple when we are ready for such a big step.

Needless to say one month from today I will be acting like a giddy little girl on Christmas morning, trying to hold it together and get ready to pick him up from the airport. There is nothing more beautiful and wonderful than being in love and I am beyond blessed that God has brought us together.

Living for the Weekend

It’s no secret that by Sunday evening most of you are loathing the thought of having to head back to work or hit the books the next day. I know that I do (or use to)! I spent my Mondays going to the gym, getting ready for work, going to work, waiting to get off, going back home to watch The Bachlorette or The Voice and then heading to bed with thankful thoughts that I am one day closer to the weekend…

The problem with this is what you are living for the weekend, not in the present. We so easily allow our lives to simply us by and just hold on to the fact that Friday is another day closer. But, let’s be honest here…not every day is promised and  if we are living each day just going through the motions then are we truly living? I don’t meant to be so deep this early, however this is a huge problem!! Cheesy or not, I believe that we should live each day like it is our last and live in the moment.

As everyone’s Facebook news feed is filled with people posting things daily this month with thankful thoughts, I offer a challenge to you. Be thankful everyday, stop going through the motions and stop living for the weekend. Trust me. You’re “case of the Mondays” will disappear and your outlook on life will be soooo much better!

Who Doesn’t Love Bridesmaids?!

I’m not referring to the lovely ladies that stand next to a bride on her big day. When I say Bridesmaids, I am talking about the hysterical comedy featuring Kristin Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Rose Byrn. There was one point where I watched this movie every single week and thanks to Rebel Wilson, my friends and I would develop a British accent whenever we were around each other!

Thanks so‘s latest article “18 Female Friendship Truths, As Told By ‘Bridesmaids'” I have fallen in love with the movie all over again! If you haven’t seen this movie yet, shame on you! Go buy it right away!
